Commercial Fire Protection Project Manager Lead Operational Excellence and Protect Lives at IFSS


Job Overview

  • Project Scope: Commercial fire-life safety construction projects (fire alarm, very early warning, and specialized life-safety solutions)


The Opportunity

You will take the helm of vital commercial safety installations, steering projects from initial pre-construction planning through final closeout. Operating out of the Reno/Sparks area, you will be given the ownership and structural backing required to protect properties and human lives by ensuring high-consequence safety systems are built right every single time.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • End-to-End Execution: Direct commercial safety construction projects to guarantee complete compliance with budgets, design specs, code updates, and strict timelines.
  • Scheduling Excellence: Develop, sequence, and manage detailed project schedules utilizing Gantt charts, look-ahead parameters, or CPM methods.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as the centralized point of contact across internal leadership, site supervisors, field teams, vendors, and clients.
  • Document Control: Actively track and resolve RFIs, look-aheads, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and project risk registers.
  • Financial & Quality Controls: Partner with estimating and procurement teams to forecast costs, manage changes, track material pipelines, and conduct quality control inspections at key project milestones.
  • Safety Leadership: Coordinate site-specific safety protocols, ensuring absolute jobsite adherence to OSHA guidelines, personal protective equipment (PPE) deployment, and local building safety codes.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Core Competence: Proven capability to successfully coordinate and manage commercial project scopes, schedules, budgets, and closeout protocols.
  • Documentation Skills: Sharp aptitude for reading, interpreting, and coordinating construction drawings, contracts, specifications, and workflows.
  • Mobility & Compliance: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for local travel to Reno/Sparks jobsites; compliance with background and standard pre-employment checks.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Industry Focus: 3 to 5 years of project management experience specifically within commercial fire protection, fire alarm, MEP, low-voltage, or specialty subcontractor construction environments.
  • Advanced Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or Business.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification; NICET credentials, fire protection certifications, or corporate project management certifications (PMP/CAPM).
  • Software Toolkit: Familiarity with modern construction stack platforms such as BuildOps, Procore, Bluebeam, or Microsoft Project.
