Your work environment at EXP:

In this role, you will be a part of the Mechanical team, of the MEP Buildings sector (Life Science & Healthcare projects), based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

What a day at EXP has in store for you:

  • Revit or CAD proficient with working in 3D models

  • Prepare HVAC one-line diagrams

  • Prepare/ Review HVAC load and airflow calculations.

  • Basic knowledge of Mechanical, plumbing and energy codes.

  • Edit mechanical specifications to reflect the project requirements.

  • Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases.

  • Size, select and schedule equipment.

  • Meet with vendors to determine specific equipment requirements for application.

  • Coordinates with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc).

  • Respond to RFI's for the project, and accurately review submittals.

  • Solve installation problems during project construction.

  • Mange time effectively based on the required design process for the project.

  • Ability to deliver appropriate design level documentation based on project scope.

  • Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc).

  • Perform at a 'responsible charge' level; meeting exp's design and quality levels.

  • Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.

  • Write studies and reports for systems on projects.

  • Writes sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systems.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as Constant Volume air systems, Variable air volume systems, hot and chilled water hydronic systems.

  • Basic understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project.

What your experience looks like:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.

  • Candidate should have an engineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 0-3 years of building HVAC design experience.

  • Experience with time management and working in a team environment.

  • EIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferred or the desire to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.

  • Experience designing in science and technology preferred.
