Job Title:Senior Engineer Manufacturing ME

Departments:Operations

Reports To:Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Job Class:Salaried Exempt

Pay Rate:Dependent upon experience

Location:Orlando, FL (On-site)

Position Summary:
The Senior Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and provides technical expertise necessary to design, develop and implement manufacturing systems, processes and tooling. This role supports the fabrication and production of precision electronic components and frequency control devices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains various manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, welding/joining, soldering, lead forming, etc.

  • Uses engineering tools and statistical concepts to maintain and improve processes.

  • Applies Lean manufacturing techniques to improve material flow and reduce COGS.

  • Participates in collaborative engineering on new designs, ensuring compliance with customer specifications regarding materials used and finishes.

  • Suggests mechanical design methods for machining, plating, joining, etc., ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

  • Helps manage new component requirements for electronic and mechanical components.

  • Generates production-level documentation and procedures.

  • Creates and interprets simulation models using SolidWorks to analyze structural, thermal, and dynamic behavior of components and assemblies.

  • Specifies and initiates purchase of manufacturing tools, equipment, and supplies.

  • Plans, specifies, and justifies capital equipment expenditures.

  • Leads product and/or process improvement teams.

  • Works closely with cross-functional engineering groups performing concurrent engineering.

  • Supervises: None. Will assist and utilize ME Interns as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Hands-on role requiring interaction among multiple disciplines.

  • Previous experience with manufacturing handassembled soldered components is preferred.

  • Proficiency with multiple software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is required.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Minitab, and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft AX) is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a MUST.

  • Familiarity with CNC machining.

  • Familiarity with other machining processes: lathe, wire EDM, etc.

  • Familiarity with various electroplating materials (nickel, silver, etc.).

  • Proficiency with CNC programming via Mastercam is preferred.

  • Must be able to work on ITAR data without a license; eligibility for and ability to maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Education, Experience and Training:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required.

  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machine controls, and measuring instruments.

  • Ability to safely climb, descend, and work from ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms at varying heights.

  • Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments.

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
