Position Profile 

We are seeking a junior-level consultant to join our Energy Solutions team as an Associate. This role is ideal for candidates with 0-2+ years of experience in energy or commodities trading, particularly in middle office, market risk, or product control functions. 

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems, market dynamics, and risk management practices. Additionally, candidates should have baseline familiarity with modern data tools such as Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, and Python, though deep expertise is not required. 

As an Energy Solutions Associate, you will support clients in improving their trading operations, market risk strategies, and technology adoption while working on data-driven initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. You’ll collaborate with senior consultants and clients, assisting with daily project tasks, adjusting to shifting priorities, and ensuring the timely execution of work plans.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Analyze and optimize trading operations, market risk processes, and controls within energy and commodity trading organizations
  • Support data-driven decision-making by utilizing tools like Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, and Python to analyze large datasets and provide actionable insights
  • Work with clients to enhance their use of ETRM platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices
  • Develop client presentations, reports, and recommendations based on industry trends, data analysis, and best practices
  • Assist in executing project work plans, ensuring tasks are completed on time and at the highest quality
  • Participate in process improvements, control assessments, and implementation of risk and compliance measures
  • Conduct market research and analysis, providing insights into trading strategies, regulatory changes, and risk mitigation approaches
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between business, risk management, and technology functions
  • Communicate findings and results clearly and effectively to clients and internal teams

 To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:

  • An Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 0-2+ years of experience in energy or commodity trading, with exposure to middle office, market risk, or product control functions
  • Working knowledge of ETRM systems (e.g., Allegro, RightAngle, Endur, Brady, Eka, Murex, Entrade, or other similar platforms)
  • Experience or familiarity with data analysis and visualization techniques using Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, and Python
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues into actionable insights
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Ability to work in a consulting environment, managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing client needs

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred: 

  • Experience in the energy industry working with energy-related data
  • Exposure to ETRM implementations, upgrades, or system integrations
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, credit risk, or trade lifecycle processes in energy trading
  • Familiarity with SQL, Excel VBA, or scripting languages to support data analysis efforts
  • Prior experience in consulting, advisory, or client-facing roles within the energy sector
  • An advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
