Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Software Developer 2 - Java/Spring Developer opportunity in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Location: Hybrid
Group/Organization: LDRD
Schedule: 9/80 or 5-8s
The Software Developer will design, develop, test, and maintain secure, high-quality software applications in a fast-paced, Agile environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java and the Spring Framework, along with experience working with Angular and MySQL.
Key responsibilities include:
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure software applications using Java and the Spring Framework.
Develop and maintain modern web application interfaces using Angular.
Design, query, and optimize MySQL databases and related data structures.
Apply test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing practices to deliver reliable, maintainable software.
Participate in an Agile software development environment, including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Manage development activities across multiple applications and projects while meeting established priorities and deadlines.
Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders on solution design.
Contribute to application architecture and process improvements.
Work independently and provide technical guidance as needed.
Independently analyze and resolve complex technical issues, determine solution approaches, and provide technical guidance as needed.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, database, and performance issues.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong professional software development experience using Java.
Strong experience with the Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
Demonstrated experience developing and supporting enterprise-level applications.
Experience with test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, and automated testing methodologies.
Experience working within Agile development teams.
Ability to work effectively while adhering to stringent security requirements and development standards
Desired Qualifications:
Experience developing front-end applications using Angular.
Strong working knowledge of MySQL and relational database concepts.
Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
Active DOE Q Security Clearance.
