Job description

Overview:

We donโ€™t simply hire employees. We invest in them. When you work at Chatham, we empower you โ€” offering professional development opportunities to help you grow in your career, no matter if you've been here for five months or 15 years. Chatham has worked hard to create a distinct work environment that values people, teamwork, integrity, and client service. You will have immediate opportunities to partner with talented subject matter experts, work on complex projects, and contribute to the value Chatham delivers every day.

Summary:

Chatham is looking for an Associate to join its Investment Banking team, which provides strategic finance advisory and transaction execution services across a comprehensive range of debt and other capital solutions. Our industry-agnostic team advises companies across sectors, helping clients evaluate financing alternatives, raise capital, solve complex financing challenges, and achieve the best capital markets outcomes. The ideal Associate candidate will bring a strong foundation in investment banking and transaction execution, with the ability to take ownership of workstreams and contribute meaningfully to live engagements from day one. A successful candidate will be analytical, process-oriented, highly attentive to detail, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach are essential.

In this role you will:
  • Manage key workstreams across live transactions and client engagements, from initial analysis through closing
  • Develop financial analyses, capital structure assessments, financing alternatives, and other materials to support client decision-making
  • Prepare and review presentations and other materials for clients and prospects
  • Analyze financial statements, credit profiles, existing debt structures, and relevant transaction and market data
  • Conduct company, industry, comparable transaction, and capital markets research across a broad range of sectors
  • Coordinate transaction processes, including due diligence, lender and investor outreach, documentation, and interaction with clients, legal counsel, financing sources, and other external parties
  • Manage transaction timelines, deliverables, and internal processes to help ensure efficient execution
  • Guide and review the work of Analysts, providing direction, feedback, and support throughout transaction processes
  • Maintain and leverage internal proprietary databases and market resources to support client and team decisionโ€‘making
  • Participate in client meetings and calls and take increasing ownership of client and counterparty interactions
  • Contribute to the continued development of the Investment Banking teamโ€™s processes, tools, and capabilities
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Your impact:

The Investment Banking Associate will play a central role in executing client engagements and delivering Chathamโ€™s capital markets expertise. Associates serve as a critical link between senior bankers and Analysts, taking ownership of transaction workstreams while helping manage the dayโ€‘toโ€‘day execution process. Because our team is industry agnostic, Associates will gain exposure to companies, capital structures, and financing situations across a broad range of sectors. The role provides an opportunity to deepen transaction expertise, develop client management skills, exercise increasing judgement and responsibility, and build a broad understanding of the capital markets.

Contributors to your success:

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of investment banking, debt capital markets, leveraged finance, private credit, or other relevant transaction experience, with demonstrated experience executing financing transactions.

  • Strong transaction execution and project management skills, with the ability to independently own workstreams
  • Strong financial, credit, and capital structure analysis capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Sound judgement and the ability to identify issues, elevate appropriately, and drive work toward resolution
  • A selfโ€‘starter mentality with a strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage, review, and develop junior team members
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with major financial data services such as Bloomberg, PitchBook, and Capital IQ
  • Experience analyzing financial statements, credit profiles, and debt documentation
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of financial and market information into clear, actionable insights
  • Willingness to obtain, or have obtained, FINRA registration, including Series 63 and 79
Compensation and Benefits:

For New York City based candidates, the compensation range for the position is expected to be between $130,000 and $175,000 annually. Total compensation, including base pay, discretionary individual bonus and company bonus, may be higher than range listed, depending on applicantโ€™s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Benefits:
  • Health insurance
  • Life and disability insurance
  • 401k
  • EAP
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid time off
