Infection Preventionist Qualifications & Responsibilities:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Current, Unencumbered New Jersey Registered Nurse License or Licensed Practical Nurse License
  • Wound care/infection prevention experience preferred, not required
  • Infection Prevention certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as a nurse in a long-term care setting
  • Provide patient care based on scientific principles/nursing theory and evidence-based practice
  • Recognize change in the patient's condition and intervene appropriately
  • Prioritize nursing actions including reflecting patient needs, acuity, and desired outcomes
  • Implement physician orders accurately within appropriate time frames
  • Educate and counsel patients and their families on wound care processes and issues
  • Other duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing or Administrator.
