Job description

Marc Whitehead & Associates is one of Houston's most established disability and federal benefits law firms, serving clients across Texas for more than 25 years. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Elder Law & Estate Planning Attorney to lead and grow our Elder Law practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney who wants more than a traditional caseload. You will have the autonomy to help shape a growing practice area while benefiting from an established brand, dedicated marketing support, operational infrastructure, and an existing client base.

Position Overview

As the lead attorney for our Elder Law & Estate Planning division, you will guide clients and families through important legal decisions involving aging, long-term care, estate planning, and asset protection.

You will work closely with clients, referral partners, and firm leadership while helping build a practice that delivers exceptional service and meaningful results.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning, and asset protection strategies.
  • Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and related planning documents.
  • Develop long-term care and Medicaid qualification strategies.
  • Conduct client consultations, planning meetings, and document signing appointments.
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with financial advisors, care providers, physicians, senior living communities, and other professionals.
  • Participate in educational seminars, community outreach, and business development activities.
  • Help establish systems, workflows, and best practices for the continued growth of the Elder Law division.
  • Deliver a high level of client service while fostering trust and confidence with clients and their families.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas, or eligible and willing to obtain Texas licensure.
  • Experience in elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning, long-term care planning, trust planning, or a closely related practice area.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, drafting, and client communication skills.
  • Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating effectively with clients, colleagues, and referral partners.
  • Interest in practice development, community engagement, and relationship building.
