Position Description
Harvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct lecturer to teach the course, "
Hindu Spiritual Care," during the Spring 2027 semester. The course will be offered as a weekly two-hour course and will introduce students to Hindu traditions, texts, dispositions, and practices relevant to spiritual care and ministry.
The instructor will be expected to introduce basic facets of Hinduism as needed, with attention to key texts useful in ministry, such as the Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita. The course should also explore distinctive Hindu dispositions, skills, and approaches valuable in a range of ministry and spiritual care settings, including campus ministry, hospital and hospice care, prison ministry, and related contexts.
Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of spiritual care in general, as well as current research and writing on Hindu ministry and spiritual care in particular. Familiarity with Harvard Divinity School as a multifaith divinity school is valuable, since the course should be open and accessible to a diverse student body, including both Hindu and non-Hindu students. Candidates with experience in one or more forms of spiritual care will be preferred.
