Job description

A growing and stable organization on the east side of Columbus, OH is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its team on a contract-to-hire basis. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who is looking to build a long-term career with room for advancement and increasing responsibility over time.
The ideal candidate will have a a strong foundation in accounting principles, a willingness to learn, and the desire to grow into higher-level accounting responsibilities as the business continues to expand.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Perform account reconciliations and assist with month-end close activities
  • Support financial statement preparation and management reporting
  • Review and analyze financial data, identifying discrepancies and recommending solutions
  • Assist with audits, tax-related schedules, and compliance reporting
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial records
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special accounting projects
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited public university or college required
  • at least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally with a small or regional CPA firm
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and vlookups)
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
