Summary
In conjunction with the mission, vision and values of Star Valley Health this position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and assisting with reimbursement and cost reporting requirements. This position works closely with finance leadership, department managers, and external auditors to support the organization's financial integrity and operational goals. This is an "at will" position.
Job Duties
General Accounting
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts.
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Analyze financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist in developing management reports and financial dashboards.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide explanations.
  • Support preparation of board and leadership financial presentations.

Healthcare-Specific Responsibilities
  • Assist with Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation and audits.
  • Monitor reimbursement activity and identify reimbursement trends.
  • Analyze patient revenue, contractual allowances, and bad debt activity.
  • Reconcile patient accounting and general ledger systems.
  • Support compliance with healthcare regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
  • Assist with provider-based clinic, ambulance, rural health clinic, or critical access hospital reporting, as applicable.

Budgeting and Financial Analysis
  • Participate in annual operating and capital budget preparation.
  • Assist department managers with budget development and monitoring.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Conduct financial analyses to support operational decision-making.

Audit and Compliance
  • Support annual financial statement audits and cost report audits.
  • Maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, GAAP, Medicare regulations, and other applicable requirements.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Accounts Receivable and Revenue Cycle Support
  • Review of revenue and reimbursement reports for accuracy.
  • Assist in monitoring accounts receivable trends.
  • Support reconciliation of billing, collections, and contractual adjustments.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle staff to resolve financial discrepancies.
