Tax Senior Associates and above within the Tax Team
Summary of Job Function
At LGA, our primary focus is on our people. As an Associate in LGA's Tax service line, you will gain hands-on experience working with one of our three specialized tax groups:
  • Business Group: Focus on C-Corps, S-Corps, and Partnerships, handling tax filings for complex partnerships, multi-state businesses, and international operations, with minimal individual tax filings.
  • Enterprise Group: Work with C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, and related 1040s/1041s, preparing tax returns for owner-operated businesses in New England and their business owners.
  • Private Client Group: Specialize in Personal, Trust, Estate, and Gift tax filings, serving high-net-worth individuals and their families, with limited entity return preparation.

Essential Job Duties
  • Prepare federal and state income tax returns, primarily for high net worth individuals, their families, trusts and estates.
  • Prepare, organize and maintain client records and workpapers that accurately support the tax return and related engagement work
  • Collaborate with internal teams, conduct tax research, and apply tax laws and regulations to corporate, partnership, individual, estate, and trust tax filings.
  • Assist with responses to client inquiries and tax notices under supervision
  • Conduct basic tax research and document preliminary findings and understanding of the law to be discussed with supervisor(s)
  • Communicates timely with supervisor(s) regarding questions, issues and identified matters to ensure resolution and that client deadlines and deliverables are met as well as personal goals for productivity
  • Proficiency in CCH Engagement, CCH Tax, Microsoft Office Suite, BNA IT Planner, CCH AnswerConnect, and other firm technologies to enhance client service and efficiency.
  • Ongoing commitment to continuing education and professional growth, seeks out formal, self-study and on-the-job training.
  • Stay current with industry and tax regulation developments.
  • Seeks out regular evaluations from supervisor(s).
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact and communicate confidently and concisely with various levels of firm management in both written and verbal form
  • Produces high quality work which adheres to the relevant professional standards
  • Prioritize and manage tasks while exercising professional skepticism

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field
  • Master's degree in Accountancy or Tax or a plan to pursue preferred
  • CPA or EA certification or a plan to pursue preferred
  • 0-2 years' experience in a related field

Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with the CCH Suite of Products (ProSystem fx Tax, Engagement, Document, Portal) is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a technology-driven, paperless environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and be flexible in tasks and time while managing your workload with adjustments to your schedule especially during peak workload times in the service line.

The compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual pay will depend on various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, and relevant certifications.
