This is a full-time, in-person day shift opportunity located on the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville campus.The Infection Prevention team plays a vital role in protecting patients, team members, and the community by reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections and promoting a culture of safety. This role is ideal for an experienced Infection Preventionist, Epidemiologist, or healthcare professional with a strong background in infection prevention, surveillance, and regulatory compliance who is passionate about improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.Infection Preventionist Job Responsibilities:Collaborate to develop, implement, monitor, and sustain effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) strategies across the health systemLead and monitor Infection Prevention and Control programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirementsMentor Infection Preventionists while seeking opportunities for continued professional development and advanced practiceApply epidemiologic principles to conduct surveillance, analyze infection trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of surveillance plansConduct infection prevention assessments, environmental rounding, and risk assessments while communicating findings and recommendations to clinical and operational leadersInvestigate healthcare-associated infections, outbreaks, and clusters to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actionsDevelop and deliver infection prevention education programs tailored to the needs of diverse healthcare audiencesUtilize infection prevention informatics tools and reporting systems to collect, validate, analyze, and visualize data for regulatory reporting and performance improvementPerform data analysis using statistical methods to identify trends, calculate benchmarks, evaluate outcomes, and support quality improvement initiativesDevelop action plans with measurable goals to reduce infection risks and improve patient safety outcomesCollaborate with internal and external partners to promote public health initiatives and improve outcomes across the continuum of careParticipate in and lead research and quality improvement projects while disseminating evidence-based findings through education, consultation, and clinical practiceInfection Preventionist Experience:3–5 years of Infection Prevention, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related healthcare experiencePrevious experience as an Infection Preventionist or Hospital Epidemiologist (preferred)Experience with healthcare surveillance systems, infection prevention regulations, and quality improvement initiatives (preferred)Infection Preventionist Education & Credential Requirements:Associate Degree (required)Bachelor's Degree (preferred)Registered Nurse (RN) (preferred)Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (preferred)Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology (preferred)Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (required within 2 years of hire)If you are interested in this full-time Infection Preventionist opportunity at Wolfson Children's Hospital, please apply today.The role demonstrates knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) through certification and applies their knowledge and experience to guide practice while learning more advanced concepts. The position is responsible for collaborating to develop, implement and sustain effective IPC strategies. Leadership: Implements and monitors IPC program and practices. Collaborates to align IPC program goals with organizational goals. Provides mentorship to IPs and seeks mentorship from experienced IPs. Infection Prevention & Control Operations: Applies epidemiologic principles and uses appropriate benchmarks. Evaluates the significance of surveillance and investigational findings to make recommendations for improvement. Evaluates the effectiveness of surveillance plans and modifies as necessary. Creates education program(s) to meet the needs and learning styles of the audience. Conducts IPC assessments and/or rounding and communicates findings and recommendations. Infection Prevention & Control Informatics: Uses technology to identify disease and illness trends. Validates systems to ensure accurate data. Utilizes applicable reporting systems as required. Performs data management, analysis, and visualization.Quality Improvement: Participates with analysis to identify system failure elements and areas of improvement. Uses data and statistical techniques to describe data, calculate risk-adjusted rates and establish benchmarks. Evaluates findings and make recommendations for improvement. Performs risk assessments and develops action plans that include goals and measurable objectives. Professional Stewardship: Collaborates with internal and/or external partners to promote health and positive clinical outcomes for the larger community and continuum of care. Research: Review research findings to determine whether to implement findings. Participates and may lead research and quality improvement projects.
