About the role
D-Wave is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Systems Software Engineering team. In this role, you will design and build core platform infrastructure, backend services, and user-facing features that enable seamless access to and reliable operation of our gate-model quantum computers. You will have the opportunity to help shape our products and work across the full stack, contributing to highly visible, impactful projects that advance the future of quantum computing. We are looking for an innovative problem solver who thrives on tackling complex technical challenges and building automated, scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems. You are passionate about designing elegant solutions, delivering high-quality software, and driving technical excellence across the platform.
What you'll do
  • Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and other engineers to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and solutions
  • Architect and build efficient, reliable, and maintainable systems from concept to production
  • Design and build the tooling and core software needed for the development and operation of our quantum processors
  • Design and implement user interfaces using modern front-end technologies
  • Write clean, well-documented code, and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize performance and improve the user experience
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers

About You
  • Bachelor's or higher in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, math, or physics
  • 5+ years of hands-on full stack software development experience
  • Strong Python experience and experience in another high-level language such as Go, C++, or Java
  • Proficient in front-end technologies and modern frameworks such as Vue.js or React
  • Competence with cloud platforms specifically AWS
  • Proficiency in database systems and SQL, with hands-on experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Competence with Git version control, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Use of software testing principles and practices including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively document and communicate technical concepts
  • Experience with RESTful APIs
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
