JOB LOCATION : SGMC Patient Financial Services

DEPARTMENT: PFS CUSTOMER SERVICE

SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift,

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Single Billing Office (SBO); Financial Services Representative serves as a liaison between the patient and Patient Financial Services. This representative conducts face-to-face counseling with patients and family members in the business office, in patient care areas, and via telephone. They facilitate communication and resolution on the patient’s behalf with the appropriate members of the business office and other associates throughout the organization. They respond to requests for information from customers including: patients, physicians, insurance companies, and other (i. e. , attorney, etc. ). This representative screens and processes patients for indigent and charity determination in accordance with the Georgia Indigent Care Trust Fund guidelines. They review personal financial information to determine the need for long-term payment arrangements and set-up payment plans accordingly. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • College degree in business or related field preferred. 
  • Two years of medical office experience. 
  • Functionally knowledgeable in PC/Windows environment. Typing 35-45 wpm. 
  • Foreign language skills. 
  • HFMA Certified Patient Account Representative.

WORKING CONDITIONS- ADA INFORMATION: 

Modern, well lighted, air conditioned, general work area. Moderate noise level. Normal business setting with moderate to high stress in accomplishing daily responsibilities. Subject to irregular schedule including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Occasional overtime required. Ability to sit, stand or walk for moderate periods. Safe and efficient operation of office equipment including: copier, fax, printers, computer, telephone and adding machine. Reading of printed materials, including physician orders. Listening and verbally responding to customers, staff, physicians and visitors. Moderately heavy lifting {0-25 lbs.}, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting.
