JOB SUMMARY:

The Event Manager is responsible for achieving assigned convention and event goals, contributing to the overall performance of the hotel. This role involves effectively servicing clients and groups, while maintaining the contracted food and beverage minimums. The Events Manager will collaborate with the Director of Event Management and Director of Sales to achieve the hotelโ€™s revenue, meeting planner satisfaction scores, and food and beverage objectives for the assigned property. Management-level associates are expected to work the necessary hours to fulfill job responsibilities.


JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:

  • Meet or exceed assigned meeting planner satisfaction scores, revenue goals, and food and beverage targets.
  • Proactively conduct solicitation calls, sales tours, and client entertainment tailored to the specific needs of the assigned property.
  • Monitor and assess trends within the market segment.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Adhere to Avion Hospitalityโ€™s regulations, company standards, catering and meeting standards, and catering sales metrics.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the hotelโ€™s operations and policies, as well as those of relevant departments.
  • Deliver banquet event orders in a timely manner (within 10 days), ensuring accuracy.
  • Communicate any changes promptly to impacted departments and operations leaders.
  • Maintain strong visibility in the local community and industry organizations, as applicable.
  • Assist in implementing and/or participating in special promotions related to direct sales segments, such as sales blitzes, as needed.
  • Attend and participate in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, as well as other functions required by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Director of Sales/Events.
Requirements:

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; previous convention/event and catering sales experience is preferred.
  • Creativity and knowledge of food and beverage/event coordination are desirable.
  • Must hold a valid driverโ€™s license for the applicable state.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for negotiating, influencing, and selling to other management personnel, hotel guests, and corporate clients.
  • Experience with professional sales techniques such as opening, probing, supporting, and closing is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills is required.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and demonstrate strong organizational and presentation skills.
