Weston is seeking an Engineering Associate (Water/Wastewater) to join our Water/Wastewater Group. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates to apply their engineering skills and to grow within a dynamic team. In this position you will support the design and implementation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and associated infrastructure. In this role, you will perform basic technical tasks associated with the field of engineering such as performing calculations, conducting site assessments, collecting samples, gathering information, and analyzing and coordinating the preparation of deliverables which can include permit applications, reports, Computer-Assisted Drawing (CAD) figures, sketches, and specifications. You will also support more senior project team members and management staff in performing engineering tasks and / or monitoring engineering applications in the field.

Location: Austin, TX

Expected Outcomes:

  • Perform engineering field assignments including construction observation, site inspections, field measurements (sampling, surveying, as required by technical specialty), and conducting field assessments of materials, constructions, and properties.
  • Coordinate the preparation of data tabulation/evaluation and reports. Assist in coordination of report production, permit applications, and development of engineering designs and specifications. Perform quality control (QC) checks on technical documents.
  • Perform various engineering-related calculations and analyses of information in the application of the basic design criteria necessary to complete assigned projects and tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineers, CAD technicians, field technicians, designers, and other team personnel to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist the project management team in updating / tracking schedule progress and estimating and tracking project costs.
  • Interact with clients in a professional manner, responding to client questions and requests and escalating to more senior team members when appropriate.
  • Have a working knowledge of engineering and CAD standards as well as quality requirements in the engineering design process.
  • Engage a licensed engineer in discipline(s) of interest to accelerate mentorship and learning of engineering practice.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) accredited program.
  • EIT preferred or must obtain within 6 months of hire date.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present engineering concepts, designs, and data.
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to function in outdoor locations such as active construction sites.
