Your Role

The Associate Engineer - Advanced Engineering Group (AEG) plays a critical role within Digital Realty's CTO organization, driving innovation, efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration across global IT, Operations, and Engineering teams. This role supports product development, strategic initiatives, and advanced data center solutions, helping to deliver scalable, high-performance services while shaping future capabilities across Digital Realty's platform.

What you'll do

  • Develop white papers to drive innovation, knowledge sharing, and process improvement
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to new intellectual property development
  • Establish and document engineering standards, policies, and best practices
  • Coordinate customer design requirements with facility upgrades and retrofit planning
  • Support strategic global customer accounts with technical expertise
  • Partner with Design & Construction teams to ensure alignment and execution
  • Perform site evaluations aligned with engineering and product design standards
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to support strategy and product evolution
  • Support Sales Engineering efforts including proposals, RFPs, and deal enablement
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of White Space Design Engineering Guidelines

What you'll need

  • 2+ years of MEP experience in data center environments (design, construction, or operations preferred)
  • 2+ years of data center design experience with focus on MEP infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of data center operations (MEP, IT services, asset management, compliance, DR)
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems and advanced networking solutions
  • Proven ability to collaborate across global engineering, IT, and operations teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate requirements into roadmaps
  • Experience supporting sales and customer-facing technical engagements (proposals, RFPs)
  • Proficiency with CFD and design tools (Cadence CFD, AutoCAD CFD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Fusion)
  • Strong technical writing skills (white papers, documentation, technical content)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
