Job description

Loureiro Engineering Associates has an immediate need for an Engineer to join our Facility Engineering Division in Plainville Connecticut.  We are seeking a candidate who aligns with our company Core Values of Teamwork, Client Focus, and Passionate Ingenuity, and is inspired by our Core Purpose of being an indispensable partner through innovative solutions and exceptional service. 
Loureiro has defined Our Niche as providing integrated solutions by utilizing the knowledge and expertise within each of our disciplines, and providing a complete solution with seamless integration to our clients.  In this role, a successful Mechanical Engineer will provide technical expertise in the areas of HVAC and Plumbing Engineering and will collaborate with the other disciplines within the company to deliver a distinctly better level of service to our clients.
This position will be to support the three engineering disciplines within the Facility Engineering division as follows.  The successful candidate will have a passion for learning a wide range of engineering disciplines, and will benefit from the technical knowledge from the subject matter experts within these three groups. 

  1. Industrial Wastewater Process Engineering
  2. HVAC and Plumbing Engineering

What You’ll Do
Industrial Wastewater Process Engineering
  • Perform engineering calculations to support the design industrial wastewater treatment systems;
  • Prepare engineering drawings in electronic drafting software including AutoCAD and Revit with support from our CAD designers;
  • Select and specify industrial wastewater treatment equipment including tanks, pumps, sensing equipment
  • Perform engineering field studies and prepare written reports for new and existing industrial and manufacturing facilities including water audits, wastewater audits, and wastewater treatability studies.
  • Collect wastewater samples for compliance determination, and for design of system expansions and upgrades
  • Oversee wastewater treatment system construction and installation by Loureiro skilled trades staff, and Loureiro subcontractors
  • Perform field work in support of new and existing systems including system commissioning, equipment calibration, and controls upgrades
​​​​​​​HVAC and Plumbing Engineering
  • Conduct site visits to document existing conditions of buildings and mechanical equipment
  • Perform load calculations for HVAC equipment using building modelling software
  • Perform plumbing calculations based on planned occupancy and fixture counts, and size water and sanitary services.
  • Perform code analysis and develop design requirements based on the applicable building codes, regulations, industry consensus standards, and any other technical or client standards.
  • Select and specify mechanical equipment using our equipment vendors.  Develop working relationships with our equipment vendors to expedite the equipment selection process.
  • Prepare engineering drawings utilizing AutoCAD and REVIT with support from our CAD/BIM designers.
  • Prepare equipment schedules and specifications for the mechanical engineering and plumbing disciplines.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
  • 2-4 Years Experience
  • US Person - Eligible to work at aerospace and defense companies with export restrictions.  US person is defined as a US Citizen or permanent resident. 
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is a plus
  • Previous experience performing work in an industrial and manufacturing setting is a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and hiking

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions

  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment
