Job Description:

General Summary:

The Structural Engineer, with limited supervision from Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with the Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or client
  • Perform as a project lead engineer for mid-size projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule
  • Keep current with latest code publications and apply them in everyday analysis as applicable
  • Produce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment to the team
  • Formulate, design, and/or conduct analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculations
  • Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions
  • Review of existing structures and determination of reinforcing as needed.
  • Ability to prepare construction documents e.g. drawings, details and specifications.
  • Communicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documents with basic understanding of Architectural details and MEP requirements.
  • Coordinate team of engineers and assign tasks while maintaining budget.
  • Communicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project Manager
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and designers
  • Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or other related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Professional Registration; S.E. preferred

Experience:

  • 10 years of related experience in the structural engineering field
  • Strong working knowledge of wind and seismic design

Skills/Competencies:

  • Analysis: Risa, RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferred
  • Drafting: Revit and Bluebeam
  • Have an excellent work ethic and a desire to succeed
