Salary:
The expected pay rate for this position is $28.00 - $35.00 per hour. The actual pay rate offered may vary on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience, knowledge, skills, certifications and/or location.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm working in an aviation ground support equipment overhaul facility.

POSITION SUMMARY

As an Electrical Technician specializing in Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE), will play a crucial role in installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of AC and DC electrical systems within ground support equipment. Your expertise will ensure the optimal functioning of equipment that supports our customer’s aircraft operations on the ground, including power units, air conditioning units, ground power connectors, and more. This position requires a blend of electrical principles, technical expertise, troubleshoot, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned and are not limited to the following)

  • Identify faults in electrical systems and components of ground support equipment and perform necessary repairs to ensure reliability and functionality, including experience in AC and DC systems as required for the installation of DC powered conversion kits.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of ground support equipment.
  • Install new electrical systems and components including but not limited to motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, and control systems and upgrade existing systems to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure all electrical maintenance activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations. Implement safety procedures while working on electrical systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory. Prepare reports on equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and any incidents.
  • Quickly and effectively troubleshoot electrical issues that arise, minimizing impact on ground operations.
  • Work closely with other maintenance personnel, including mechanics, technicians, and engineers, to ensure comprehensive maintenance of ground support equipment.
  • Stay updated with the latest electrical technologies and practices relevant to aviation ground support equipment. Participate in training and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy office environment by adhering to safety protocols and promoting awareness among colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience as an Electrical Technician, with direct experience in maintenance and repair of AC and DC electrical systems. Experience in aviation, automotive, or heavy equipment industries is particularly valuable.
  • At least 2 years of experience working specifically with Aviation Ground Support Equipment or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in aviation or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuitry, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Certification or training in electrical safety, maintenance techniques, and equipment-specific operation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be comfortable working at heights and confined spaces
  • Must be able to properly lift weights exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements: Moderate physical demands are required to perform the position's essential functions. Work effort principally involves sitting or standing for extended periods of time to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of walking. May be exposed to repetitive motion and vision to monitor. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time and may occasionally be required to bend, kneel, crouch, push/pull or reach for objects such as parts, boxes, books, and/or office equipment. Work is performed in an office environment, relatively free of unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Occasional work in confined spaces and at heights may be required, with potential exposure to loud noises, fumes, exhaust, or other odors when on shop/factory floors.
