About this Role
Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer III to support the design and development of electrical systems for EPC power generation and distribution projects, including gas turbines, renewable energy facilities, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and transmission infrastructure. This role is responsible for producing high-quality engineering design deliverables and complete construction packages supporting critical energy infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive electrical and instrumentation design experience, strong knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to work independently while coordinating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
What You'll Do
Engineering Design & Drafting
  • Interpret project scope, specifications, client requirements, and design criteria.
  • Develop electrical design deliverables for power generation and industrial projects.
  • Produce:
  • MCC single-line diagrams
  • Electrical room layouts
  • Motor control elementary diagrams
  • Connection diagrams
  • Cable schedules
  • Grounding plans
  • Lighting layouts
  • Power distribution drawings
  • Installation details
    โ€ข Create accurate electrical installation documents from vendor equipment drawings and technical specifications.
    โ€ข Route conduit and cable tray systems for electrical and instrumentation installations.

Engineering Analysis
  • Perform calculations for:

  • Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, process, instrumentation, and project teams to ensure coordinated designs.
  • Recognize and communicate scope changes, design issues, and project risks in a timely manner.
  • Support project scheduling and estimate task durations to meet project milestones.
  • Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.

Construction & Field Support
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, startup, and field verification activities.
  • Assist with responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs).
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of field installation issues.
  • Review contractor submittals and vendor documentation as required.

Estimating & Procurement Support
  • Support cost estimating efforts and material take-offs.
  • Assist with procurement documentation and equipment evaluations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding electrical equipment requirements and installation details.

What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.
  • EPC, power generation, utility, or industrial project experience strongly preferred.
