Research Associate Analyst

We are looking for a Research Associate Analyst to join our Capital Markets Equity Research Team in the oil and gas sector.  This role will report directly to the oil and gas Research Analyst in our Calgary office. This position requires an ambitious and self-motivated individual who is comfortable in ambiguous, demanding and fast-paced environment.

Your role

  • Analysis of financial statements and the valuation of domestic and foreign companies
  • Development and maintenance of financial models
  • Industry & market research and collection and maintenance of industry and company data
  • Evaluation of additional information from the financial press, corporate, industry and alternative sources
  • Assist in writing and editing research notes, reports and analyst presentations
  • Communication with institutional clients, management of companies under coverage and equity sales staff

Your Team

Capital Markets is a leading Canadian Financial Services company. A wholly owned subsidiary of the National Bank of Canada, it is an established investment dealer that provides research, sales, trading and investment banking services to institutional and retail investors. The firm is seeking an Associate Analyst who will work directly with the firm’s Research Analyst in the Oil and gas sector.

Basic Requirements

  • Strong educational background; new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Technical background (e.g., Engineering degree, P.Eng designation, or equivalent technical training) is considered an asset
  • Experience in the oil & gas industry or capital markets is considered an asset
  • Experience with financial modeling and analysis
  • CFA designation or progress toward obtaining the CFA is preferred
  • Familiarity with industry research and market data platforms such as geoSCOUT, Bloomberg, or similar tools is an asset
  • Industry experience and professional credentials are preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and occasionally unpredictable environment
