The VDC Process Technician reports directly to the VDC Process Engineer and plays a critical role in supporting digital workflow optimization, maintaining model and data integrity, and improving overall efficiency in VDC operations. This role assists with process implementation, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices. All decisions and recommendations made in this role will be aligned with the direction and approval of the VDC Process Engineer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design Technology, Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Structural, MEP), or Construction Management preferred.

Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in Virtual Design and Construction, BIM, or a related role

  • Basic understanding of BIM/VDC software such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and model coordination platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot workflow issues and support process enhancements.
  • Interest in process improvement, automation, and digital construction advancements.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (Dynamo, Python, Power Automate, Powershell scripts) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction project workflows and industry standards preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools to track process performance preferred.

Travel: 15%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Overtime may be required. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work under the guidance of the VDC Process Engineer to analyze and refine VDC workflows for improved efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements by documenting standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Assist VDC process documentation, ensuring it remains current and accessible to project teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues in collaboration with the VDC Process Engineer and other team members.
  • Assist in evaluating and deploying new tools, technologies, and automation strategies as directed by the VDC Process Engineer.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure adherence to established VDC workflows and standards.
  • Gather feedback from VDC users to identify challenges and potential process improvements, reporting findings to the VDC Process Engineer for review.
  • Works with the VDC Training Lead to help structure and educate team members on adopting new VDC processes and improvements.
  • Monitor data consistency and integrity within VDC systems and tools, escalating issues to the VDC Process Engineer when necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance in integrating VDC processes with project management and construction workflows.
  • Suggest improvements to Revit families, providing recommendations on tweaks or new ideas that align with team needs and DSE group standards, ensuring all changes align with the direction of the VDC Process Engineer.
  • Work closely with the VDC Process Engineer to ensure Revit families and templates support efficiency, consistency, and usability across projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
