Job description

Your Tasks:
  • The Design Engineer is responsible for generating and managing concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required to effectively bid, fabricate, install and/or commission various types of paint finishing equipment.
  • Utilize a computer aided design (CAD) system to create drawings (2D and 3D)
  • Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs
  • Apply SMACNA general air handling system calculations to determine proper duct and component sizes and configurations
  • Travel to customer sites and participate in field measurements
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers and customers
  • Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
  • Attend and contribute to design review meetings
  • Interpret mechanical drawings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your Skills:
  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (3D) -must have
  • Experienced with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic duct routing
  • Experienced with SMACHNA codes
  • Experienced with sheet metal construction and duct sizing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations - velocity in duct sizing
  • Strong skills in math and geometry
  • Nice to have Proficient in the use of Microstation
  • Experience with Solidworks, Navisworks, BIM, and/ or Revit
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary
