Job description

The Senior Associate, Data Solutions Engineering will be responsible for developing robust data pipelines, implementing data transformations and providing operational support, runbooks and documentation. This role will contribute to well-governed data solutions that automate application and data flows while enabling end-to-end processing on modern data platforms. This role places greater emphasis on independently designing solutions, proactively identifying optimizations, and mentoring junior team members. This role will report to the VP or AVP, Data Solutions Engineering.  

What You Will Do: 

  • Design and deliver strategic data solutions using modern data engineering principles per business requirements. 

  • Independently implement and optimize data ingestion/transformation jobs and deliver incremental datasets for downstream consumption. 

  • Champion automation and operate in an agile development environment while applying DevOps principles. 

  • Evaluate and improve existing data pipelines, recommending future-state architectures that increase scalability, performance, and maintainability.  

  • Collaborate across the function- partnering with data platform engineers, data governance, data science, and data analytics/visualization peers, to ensure solutions are robust, compliant, and reusable.  

  • Support and mentor early career professionals by sharing best practices and contributing to team knowledge.  

What You Will Have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Science, Engineering or similar field.

  • Minimum experience of four years in programming (Python, Julia and/or R) and proficient in SQL. 
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT, cloud, data operations. 

  • Domain knowledge of Actuarial, Investment, or Finance within Insurance/Reinsurance industry is a plus. 

  • Robust knowledge of data lakes, data governance and modern data quality techniques. 

  • Detail-oriented debugging and troubleshooting. 

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
