Job description

Position: AI Solutions Analyst Location: Mattoon, IL
Job Id: 4558 # of Openings: 1
At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). The AI Solutions Analyst is responsible for identifying, scoping, implementing, and advancing artificial intelligence solutions across First Mid Bank & Trust. This role partners closely with business units and functional leaders to assess opportunities where AI can improve efficiency, decision-making, service delivery, and operational effectiveness. The analyst serves as a bridge between business needs and technical execution, helping line-of-business teams define use cases, evaluate feasibility, prioritize initiatives, and deliver AI-enabled solutions that align with organizational goals, risk standards, and regulatory expectations.
This position plays a central role in managing AI objectives through projects from concept through implementation, ensuring initiatives are well-defined, properly governed, and successfully adopted. The AI Solutions Analyst coordinates vendors, stakeholders, tracks progress, removes obstacles, and supports change management to drive measurable outcomes. In addition, the role helps facilitate responsible AI usage across the organization by promoting awareness, encouraging practical adoption, and supporting governance, education, and best practices for enterprise AI enablement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Partner with business lines and support functions to identify, assess, and prioritize AI use cases that improve efficiency, service delivery, decision-making, and operational performance.
  • Lead discovery sessions to define business challenges, gather requirements, and translate needs into practical AI-enabled solutions.
  • Evaluate AI tools, platforms, vendors, models, and solution options for business fit, usability, scalability, governance alignment, and responsible adoption.
  • Scope AI initiatives by documenting objectives, business value, success metrics, dependencies, risks, data requirements, and implementation considerations.
  • Coordinate AI projects from ideation through deployment, ensuring timelines, deliverables, stakeholder alignment, and targeted business outcomes are achieved.
  • Translates business requirements into meaningful action items among business teams, technology, data, risk, compliance, legal, and information security to support effective solution design and delivery.
  • Support the development, testing, implementation, optimization, and ongoing performance monitoring of AI solutions, including workflow automation, document processing, analytics, knowledge support, and generative AI use cases.
  • Promote responsible AI adoption by establishing standards, best practices, governance alignment, user training, change management, and a culture of practical innovation across the organization.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or an associate in information technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications/continuing education in AI, data analytics, project management, or business analysis are a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience in technology, business analysis, process improvement, digital transformation, data analytics, or project management.
  • Experience working directly with business units to gather requirements, define solutions, and manage delivery.
  • Exposure to AI, automation, machine learning, data platforms, or emerging technology initiatives in a business environment.
  • Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional projects from ideation through implementation.
  • Financial services, banking, or regulated industry experience is strongly preferred.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences across.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executive leadership and non-executive employees across the organization.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, from frontline staff to executive leadership.
