Job description

As the Environmental Health & Safety Assistant, you will support Sauder’s environmental, health, and safety programs by coordinating compliance data, maintaining accurate records, supporting required reporting, and helping deliver employee training. This role works closely with internal safety team members and external compliance partners to ensure regulatory requirements, permit applications, training records, and department processes are completed accurately and on time.

We are looking for a highly organized, tech-comfortable, detail-oriented individual who is willing to learn EHS and compliance processes. Need not be an EHS expert. 
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect, enter, analyze, and organize compliance-related data using Microsoft Excel, including formulas and calculations that require strong attention to detail.
  • Enter and maintain accurate information in SAP and Avantis to support safety, environmental, and compliance processes.
  • Conduct regular shop-floor walkthroughs to gather information needed for environmental and safety compliance reporting.
  • Create clear, professional presentations and training support materials using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Partner with third-party environmental compliance providers to gather and submit data for required regulatory reporting, permit applications, and compliance documentation.
  • Organize, maintain, and update environmental and safety records to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and readily accessible.
  • Collaborate with Safety Team members to develop, publish, and track required employee training.
  • Review and maintain the safety data sheet library and help ensure new substances are reviewed and approved by authorized personnel before use.
  • Maintain employee training and certification records in the Sauder Learning Management System.
  • Monitor inventory needs for safety labels and signage, and purchase or create materials as needed.
  • Complete annual hazardous waste training due to routine interaction with waste-related processes and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in Environmental Health & Safety, business, administrative support, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in administrative support, compliance recordkeeping, EHS, manufacturing, or a related environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data entry, tracking, and basic analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and the ability to create clear training or presentation materials.
  • Ability to learn and use systems such as SAP, Avantis, and a Learning Management System.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal team members and external compliance partners.
  • Comfortable walking the shop floor and working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to complete required hazardous waste training.

PAY SUMMARY

Expected offer range: $19.50/hour - $22.95/hour. The actual salary will be based on factors such as relevant experience and skills. The max salary listed is not the top of the pay band.
