Job description

As an Associate Contract Manager with the Procurement team, you'll be responsible for leading commercial contracting activities across a broad range of enterprise supplier engagements. This role serves as a subject matter expert in contract development, negotiation, and risk management, partnering closely with Category Managers, Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders to structure and execute agreements that protect Best Buy while enabling business objectives. This position focuses on complex service and consulting agreements and technology contracts, including master-level agreements, statements of work, amendments, and renewals. You will work directly with senior stakeholders and strategic suppliers to negotiate commercial terms, manage contractual risk, and drive consistency across procurement contracting practices.
This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another nonBest Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you'll do
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial contracts, including master service agreements, statements of work, software agreements, professional services agreements, amendments, and renewals.
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies that balance business objectives, risk mitigation, supplier relationships, and financial outcomes.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Procurement and business stakeholders on contract structures, commercial terms, and negotiation approaches.
  • Support strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives by providing contract expertise throughout supplier evaluation, negotiation, and award processes.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Compliance, Information Security, Risk Management, and business teams to facilitate contract review, execution, issue resolution, and contract interpretation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing contract templates, playbooks, and best practices, while analyzing contract trends to identify opportunities for standardization, simplification, and enhanced commercial outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, contracting, legal operations, or supplier management
  • 2+ years of experience negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements. 
  • 2+ years of experience influencing cross-functional teams and stakeholders without direct authority. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience negotiating enterprise technology, software, SaaS, telecommunications, outsourcing, consulting, professional services, or managed services agreements. 
  • 2+ years of negotiating complex commercial constructs including pricing models, service levels, credits, liability frameworks, intellectual property provisions, data privacy terms, and regulatory requirements. 
  • 2+ years of experience developing contract language, negotiating fallback positions, and driving favorable commercial outcomes in high-value negotiations. 
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms and contract repositories. 
  • J.D. or paralegal degree
