Job description

Software Engineer - Simulation (Associate or Experienced)

Company:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer - Simulation (Associate or Experienced) to support our Airborne Warning System Simulation (AWSSim) team working USAF E-7 Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) program located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

We are seeking a software engineer to join the AWSSim team to design, implement, and maintain simulation components and plugins. The engineer will contribute to the framework, sensor models, and drivers, and work closely with program stakeholders to integrate simulations into test environments.

AWSSim (Airborne Warning System Simulation) is a product-line software simulation effort that develops and maintains digital-twin Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and sensor plugins used across multiple airborne and associated systems.

Our team builds a unified simulation framework that models sensors, platforms, and environments to create realistic test environments for software deployed on airborne platforms, ground systems, satellites, and other systems.

We support multiple programs, including:

  • E-3 variants

  • UK E-7

  • Korea E-7

  • Australia E-7

  • KC-46

  • P-8

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, architects, and develops simulation models, simulation visualizations, virtual environments/platforms and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the entire product lifecycle

  • Partners with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and dynamics of the systems being simulated

  • Performs design, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize overall system performance and capabilities

  • Performs data collection and processing for use in simulations

  • Validates, verifies, and refines simulation software code, models, simulations, test procedures and test environments, executing test procedures and documenting test results and models against real-world data, test data, benchmarks, or other similar models

  • Documents and maintains technical code, algorithms, specifications and descriptions of simulation models

  • Partners with cross functional engineering teams to enable integration of simulation software with hardware devices and systems

  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the software engineering simulation environment

  • Modernizes, migrates, sustains, and updates simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems

  • Performs simulation software project management functions

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Ability to Obtain U.S. Secret - Final Post-Start

  • 2+ years of software development experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 2+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience OR 10+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Experience with sensor models, simulation concepts, or digital-twin development

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate simulation software with hardware devices and systems.

  • Experience implementing current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the simulation engineering environment.

  • Experience Modernizing, migrating, sustaining, and updating simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.

  • Active Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience with C++ and Java Experience with Linux OS
