About the role

The Site Technical Associate Manager is accountable for the on-going technical support and improvement of existing infant formula products, and the qualification of new products and processes at the Wanamingo Supply Center. 

Your responsibilities
    • Partners with the Operations, R&D (Research & Development), and Quality groups to ensure products are manufactured right the first time, from initial product qualification through on-going formula optimization. 
    • Works with manufacturing teams on the shop floor, to troubleshoot operational problems and drive manufacturing improvements, across both powder blending and packaging.
    • Manages scale up and qualification plans for new products, following the Tech Transfer process with focus on technical due diligence and risk assessment.
    • Develops validation protocols and reports to qualify manufacturing and cleaning processes.
    • Interacts with FDA when onsite for audit as a subject matter expert.
    • Leverages knowledge of unit operations and engineering principles to effectively troubleshoot processing and equipment issues. 
    • Use business tools to investigate out of specification issues and recommend disposition of material.
    • Assess and implement improvements for Plant CIP / COP / Master Sanitation  
    • Effectively communicates technical topics to key stakeholders, management, and team members to influence decisions. 
    • Identifies and implements cost reduction / productivity improvements. 
    • Sets technical standards for operations, maintenance, safety, and quality. 
    • Applies the understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice) and regulatory requirements to process design and qualifications. 
    • Incorporates understanding of corporate safety and environmental standards into execution of product/process trials.
    • Continuously improve factory operational and technical capabilities to achieve business goals. 
The experience we're looking for
  • Candidate will possess a degree in a chemical science discipline (Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology, or any related scientific field) along with 3+ years hands-on manufacturing support experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing support is essential.  Relevant manufacturing fields include infant formula, dairy products, nutritional food products and pharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated competencies: problem solving, practical judgment, initiative/assertiveness, job knowledge, leadership, planning/organizing, attention to detail, sense of urgency/timing, creativity/innovation, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements for manufacturing infant formulas or other highly regulated product types is essential.
  • Knowledge of nutritional products, food chemistry, analytical sampling and testing, and food / infant formula product formulation would be highly relevant. 
  • Experience in process qualification is essential. Creation and execution of qualification documentation.
  • Familiarization with process engineering, micro sensitive equipment design, and process optimization would be useful.
  • Experience in powder transport, powder blending, CIP, and powder packaging would be highly relevant. 
  • Candidate should have experience in technical writing, documentation, and technical presentations. 
  • Experience using statistical process control data to analyze situations and drive decision making is needed.
  • Proficiency in computer software such as - Visio, Minitab, Microsoft Office, and other related work tools would be a benefit.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic environment where a high degree of teamwork and collaboration are required. 
  • Some travel may be required.

Salary Range
USD $100,000.00 -  $150,000.00
Pay Transparency
The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
