Description
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and take an active, visible role on the shop floor-working side-by-side with TEAM Members to execute safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Purpose: Ensures the identification, control, and mitigation of hazardous conditions that could result in injury, environmental impact, or property damage. Provides training on safety programs, regulatory compliance, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment. Assists in coordinating workers' compensation processes and leads incident/near miss investigations. Supports TEAM Industries' commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) excellence by promoting compliance with OSHA, EPA, State Regulatory Agencies, and other applicable regulations while promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follow all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
- Responsible for conferring with Managers and Supervisors to gain knowledge of work situations requiring safety training for TEAM Members.
- Involvement in improvement of work centers as it pertains to ergonomics and safety.
- Anticipates, identifies, and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices.
- Develops hazard control methods, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct regularly scheduled EHS Audits and report findings /trends to Management and where appropriate to TEAM Members.
- Measures, audits, and evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs.
- Perform and/or participate in a minimum of 2 work center ergonomic audits per month with action plans for improvement.
- Responsible for driving an active safety committee
- Works with external suppliers as needed
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental permits such as air, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
- Identifies and orders appropriate safety supplies (i.e. anti-vibration gloves, wrist supports, wrist rests, etc.)
- Creates and/or maintains environmental policies and procedures and ensures timely and accurate reporting as required per regulations
- Responsible for ensuring all regulatory training such as OSHA, EPA, and State Regulatory Agencies training requirements.
- Completion and record retention of all government reporting requirements. For example: OSHA Logs, TRI reporting, Storm water testing & reporting, etc.
- Keeps abreast of current regulations, standards, codes, safety products, methods and practices related to safety and the machining industry.
- Responsible for training TEAM Members in safety both during orientation and on an ongoing basis as necessary or required by law.
- Organizes TEAM Member Safety & Wellness events as needed.
- Assist the HR Manager with the coordination of the Workers Compensation Program with TEAM Members, supervisors, and insurance company to ensure proper benefits and reduction of workplace injuries.
- Responsible for investigating and reporting accidents and incidents in a timely manner. Completes post-accident investigations in a timely manner.
- Responsible for establishing and promoting safety awareness throughout the plant.
- As changes are made, ensure the facility safety map is updated and distributed in a timely manner
- Demonstrate commitment to the TEAM Industries Quality Management system and Objectives.
- Promote a positive atmosphere. Actively support activities that promote the welfare and morale of TEAM Members.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Associate degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exposure to safety or environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, State Regulated Agency) preferred. Certification or applicable degree in environmental, health, or safety is preferred, but not required.

- Detail-oriented with good organization and follow-through
- Works under close supervision and seeks guidance as needed
Training:
- Required: OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course (or equivalent) within 6 months of hire.
- Preferred: Basic First Aid/CPR, Hazard Communication, and Intro to Environmental Compliance.
Physical Demands
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for 100% of shift
- Ability to do repetitive movements (i.e. bending, twisting, walking)
