ACADEMIC AFFAIRS ANNOUNCES AN OPENING IN eLEARNING & ACADEMIC OUTREACH
POSITION: Director, Academic Technology & Teaching Innovation Center
Description of Duties:
Receives general supervision of the AVP for Academic Affairs, the Director, Academic Technology & Teaching Innovation Center (ATTIC) serves as the primary administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS) and supports faculty in delivering high-quality courses using innovative technologies and evidence-based instructional design principles. This role promotes courses that are accessible and easy to navigate while providing technical assistance and promoting best practices in eLearning. Reports to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Serve as the administrator for the LMS and connected applications, including configuration, troubleshooting, user support, and reporting. Train and support faculty and staff in the use of the LMS and other academic technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Provide timely and effective support for faculty, staff, and students experiencing technical challenges related to the LMS and other academic technologies. Research, evaluate, and promote innovative uses of emerging technologies and tools to support effective teaching and learning. Assist faculty in integrating multimedia and new technologies into curriculum to address diverse learning preferences. Promote equitable learning experiences through technology integrations that comply with accessibility standards and institutional policies. Engage in professional development to remain current with trends in educational technology. Participate in college committees and initiatives as requested and as related to the position. Perform other duties as assigned to advance the mission of the college and the Academic Technology & Teaching Innovation Center. May train or supervise staff, hourly, or work-study employees in the Academic Technology & Teaching Innovation Center. Twelve-month professional position. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with adjustments as needed to coordinate training and meetings with faculty; may be required to address critical operational issues and respond to urgent matters outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Informational Technology, or a related field. 1-3 years of work experience with Learning Management Systems and academic technologies. Experience with both synchronous and asynchronous learning utilizing best practices in eLearning design. Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service. Must be able to perform under tight deadlines. Strong knowledge of Universal Design and Accessibility requirements. Strong customer service and computer skills, including experience with an LMS. Possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent decision-making skills; strong leadership skills; and ability to work under pressure.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Informational Technology, or a related field. More than 3 years of experience in educational technology working in higher education. Experience as a Canvas LMS administrator. Experience with LTI integration, SCORM, API, and media capture technology.
