Job Description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Survey CAD Tech. This is a full-time in-office position based in either Rochester or Buffalo, NY. In this role you will support complex civil, highway, and building projects by preparing calculations and data for field crews, processing field data, generating as-builts and volume reports, and developing high-quality 3D models for Automated Machine Guidance systems. You will work with the latest stringless/stakeless construction technology, including asphalt/concrete paving and road resurfacing systems, while collaborating with clients nationwide and design engineers to keep projects on schedule. All work is performed under the direction of Professional Licensed Surveyors.

Job Duties

  • This is primarily an in-office position with field assignments as required.
  • Provide field crews with stakeout calculations for civil, heavy highway & building projects
  • Prepare as-built drawings and reports.
  • Build 3D data, surfaces, alignments, and linework for use in paving, slipform, and earthmoving automated machine guidance systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, etc.)
  • Maintain data quality and integrity in the office; independently perform accurate calculations to complete surveys
  • Extract and process data from terrestrial and mobile laser scans.
  • Continually advance knowledge with upgrades in technology, equipment, and software
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Perform Site Localizations on an as-needed basis and other construction survey related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with multiple CAD platforms, with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, Revit, and/or InRoads.
  • Strong ability to read, comprehend, and interpret construction plan documents and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing and ability to operate company owned vehicles.
  • Willingness to work overtime when project schedule requires it.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience as a Survey Crew Chief on construction projects.
    • Hands-on experience with the Trimble family of surveying equipment
    • Familiarity with operating advanced survey technology (GPS, Robotic Total Stations, digital/differential levels, UAV, high-definition scanners, and data collection devices)
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to drive a passenger vehicle.
    • Ability to use a computer and keyboard.
    • Ability to wear personal protective safety gear.
    • Ability to work in cold or hot environments.
    • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
