EAD supports clients' projects on hundreds of systems in industrial manufacturing facilities specializing in food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and parcel handling. This opportunity will enable you to enjoy a fast-paced environment working on projects of all sizes and complexities.

EAD is looking for an Associate Electrical Engineer to assist in providing engineering support for various industrial and commercial projects including: engineering calculations, power distribution, lighting design, controls design, and power analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
  • Electrical design with primary responsibilities of power, lighting and grounding per client requirements
  • Provide studies of power quality, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis
  • Development of capital expenditure cost estimates for design/build projects
  • Coordinating with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects, which often includes architects, mechanical, process, civil and structural engineers
  • Work with designers and drafters to produce detailed designs
  • Resolve design and development problems
  • Work with a team to deliver quality construction documentation – specifications, schematics, power and lighting plans, one-lines, etc.
  • Interface with clients, utility companies, construction administrators, project team and vendors
  • Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development
  • Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
  • Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 3 years' experience in electrical design of industrial and commercial projects
  • P.E., F.E. or commitment to obtain F.E. within first 12 months required with desire to obtain Licensed Professional Engineer certification
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Possess organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and in-house support staff
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Certifications and skills:

  • Knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Office, plant, or client site environment*
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
  • Travel and/or field experience required

*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment, as necessary.
