Metrology Alignment Engineer

Triosim Corporation

Appleton, WI • Remote

Full-time

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

As our Metrology Alignment Engineer, you'll be the person high-performance manufacturing and research teams call when equipment absolutely has to be dialed in — laser trackers, CMMs, autocollimators, and interferometers in hand, hunting down thermal drift and mechanical shift before they become tomorrow's downtime. This is a travel-based, Northeast-coverage role: you'll be on-site where the tools live, working shoulder-to-shoulder with design, mechanical, and systems engineering teams.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform alignment and calibration of highprecision equipment using laser trackers, CMMs, autocollimators, interferometers, and other metrology tools.
  • Develop and execute metrology plans supporting installation, maintenance, and upgrades of tools and systems.
  • Analyze measurement data to pinpoint alignment errors, mechanical shifts, or thermal expansion effects — and apply the corrective fix.
  • Partner with design, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to bake alignment requirements into projects from day one.
  • Document metrology procedures, alignment reports, and measurement uncertainty analyses.
  • Provide technical support during tool installation, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and improve metrology system accuracy through regular calibration and verification routines.
  • Train junior staff and technicians on proper metrology and alignment procedures.
  • Keep every task compliant with safety and quality standards.
  • What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field — OR an Associate's degree in Metrology or Mechanical Engineering plus 2+ years of handson precision alignment experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in precision alignment or metrology within a hightech environment.
  • Handson proficiency with advanced metrology tools (FARO, API, Leica laser tracker, Renishaw systems).
  • Solid grasp of GD&T, error budgeting, and tolerance analysis.
  • Sharp problemsolving instincts and an eye for detail that doesn't quit.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Dependable, flexible, and comfortable with a travelheavy schedule.
  • Familiarity with 3D software such as Spatial Analyzer, BuildIt, and PCDMIS.
  • CAD experience.
  • Able to read mechanical blueprints and apply them in both field and office settings.
  • Comfortable in Microsoft Office.
  • Why Triosim?

We're a company built to serve — and that starts with the people who keep our clients' most demanding systems running true. Join a team where precision is the standard, not the exception.

Triosim is an Equal Opportunity Employer
