Histotechnician
Our bustling practice is growing and searching for a part time OR full time experienced Histotechnician! Schlessinger MD was founded in 1993 by board-certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Joel Schlessinger. Since that time, Schlessinger MD has become a nationally and internationally known cutting-edge dermatology and cosmetic surgery clinic. Dr. Schlessinger & Schlessinger MD have recently received 8 awards for 'Best of Omaha" for our various departments. Join us and see why the best is yet to come!
In this role you will:
  • Prepare tissue samples for immediate examination, using rapid tissue processing and frozen section technique to cut, mount and stain tissue samples.
  • Perform daily functions of the clinic laboratory including opening lab for daily functions, assisting the collection of specimens and accessioning specimens.
  • Support in preparation and logging of other pathology samples to be sent out for analysis.
  • Update electronic medical records for work performed, lab results and generates reports as needed.
  • Assist Dermatology clinic RN team as needed with cataloging lab pickups, preparing patient trays and other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
  • Associate's Degree with at least 1 year experience in a lab environment; accredited histology programs highly preferred.
  • Must have full knowledge and comfortability with sample preparation, Mohs procedure sample preparation preferred
  • Must be highly motivated, organized, precise and capable of multitasking.
  • Assist physician to maintain a good workflow and meet expectations of patients in relation to being on time
  • Maintain clean, safe and well-stocked exam and operating rooms, sterilize surgical instruments, and assist with laundry
