Description:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) supports the operational readiness, maintenance, repair, and technical support of biomedical, simulation, and training equipment used to prepare Department of Defense medical personnel for critical care, emergency medicine, biocontainment, and aeromedical evacuation missions. The BMET performs preventive and corrective maintenance; inspects, tests, calibrates, and troubleshoots complex medical and simulation systems; maintains maintenance and compliance records; supports specialized training platforms; develops and delivers equipment training; assists with simulation center operations and course support activities; and ensures compliance with applicable Air Force, Department of Defense, OSHA, FDA, Joint Commission, and manufacturer standards. This position operates in a dynamic training environment that includes a combination of technical, administrative, and hands-on support activities and may require occasional travel in support of exercises, training events, and mission-essential activities. 

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of biomedical equipment technician experience. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biomedical equipment maintenance, repair, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting. 
  • Experience diagnosing complex electronic, electromechanical, hardware, and software system failures and implementing corrective actions. 
  • Knowledge of applicable healthcare and regulatory standards, including DoD, OSHA, FDA, Joint Commission, AAAHC, CAP, NFPA, and NEC requirements. 
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and equipment specifications. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat. 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with military, civilian, and contractor personnel. 
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, pass a color vision test, maintain a valid driver's license, and obtain authorization to operate a government vehicle. 
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain required background screening, government access credentials, and organizational onboarding requirements. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of military medical, operational medicine, or deployment-related experience. 
  • Experience supporting military healthcare, training, simulation, or readiness programs. 
  • Familiarity with Air Force organizations, policies, standards, and operational procedures. 
  • Experience working with medical simulation equipment, task trainers, and high-fidelity patient simulators. 
  • Experience supporting Learning Management Systems (LMS) and technology-enabled training environments. 
  • Experience with audiovisual systems used in simulation or instructional settings. 
  • Experience creating and applying moulage and supporting realistic medical training scenarios. 
  • Familiarity with the Air Force Technical Order System and technical publication management processes. 
  • Experience providing equipment training, technical instruction, or user support to healthcare professionals. 
  • Experience supporting field exercises, contingency operations, or aeromedical evacuation training environments.
