We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
Job Summary
We are seeking a systems biologist with experience integrating biology and bioinformatics to identify how biological systems change over time and under varying conditions to develop solutions to health and environmental issues. This position will conduct differential analysis of methylation, transcriptomics, ATAC-Seq, and single cell multi-ome and integrate the data to discover biomarkers for diseases and targets for drug or probiotic treatments. The candidate must be a US citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET level U.S. Government security clearance.
Responsibilities

  • Working with exome sequencing, methylation arrays, methylation sequencing, ATAC-seq, miRNA-seq, RNA-seq, and ChIP-Seq bioinformatic workflows.
  • Working with high throughput scRNA-Seq, scATAC-Seq analysis using existing single cell analysis software like Seurat and established single cell pipelines.
  • Using methods like principal component analysis, spectral decomposition, t-SNE, UMAP for data visualization and clustering techniques like k-means clustering, agglomerative hierarchical clustering, graph partitioning etc. for cell type annotations.
  • Regulatory network analysis and genetic annotation of data.
  • Participating in collaborative projects with other leading academic research and industry collaborators on computational analysis of high-dimensional, cell and molecular profiling data to advance precision microbiome efforts.
  • Perform analyses in a transparent manner and to clearly communicate analysis results and methods with collaborating researchers who may or not have computational backgrounds.
  • Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to guide and train other staff, as well as to perform certain administrative functions, as necessary, to ensure smooth functioning of experiments and timely distribution of program deliverables.
  • Limited domestic and potential international travel is anticipated.
Key Qualifications
  • Either a Ph.D. OR a M.S. with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience. Degree must be in bioinformatics, biology, genetics, computer science, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Expertise in analysis, interpretation and bioinformatics research on large multivariate molecular profiling datasets to include methylation, ATACseq, transcriptomics, and single cell multiome.
  • Experience developing and integrating data and tools to distill knowledge from large datasets.
  • Excellence in relevant programming languages (ideally Python and/or R)
  • A track record demonstrating scientific creativity, collaboration, and independence
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment.
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in machine learning and biostatistics.
  • Experience in pathway analysis.
