General Function
The Bank Manager has the responsibility to plan, develop and implement practices and programs that achieve Midwest Heritage objectives. This position provides sales and operating leadership in order to achieve growth, income and profitability objectives.
The Bank Manager's primary focus will be on achieving sales growth by building and strengthening relationships with businesses and customers. This position will ultimately be responsible for the overall success of the bank branch. Incumbent will assist the VP Retail Sales Manager in overseeing all daily bank sales and operational programs and strategies.

Reporting Relations
Accountable and Reports to: VP, Retail Sales Manager
Positions that Report to you: Operations Supervisor
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility to ensure the branch has a competent and productive sales team.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Supervisor, recruits, retains and motivates high quality employees that understand and utilize bank and corporate sales marketing and operational strategies.
  • Assists the Operations Supervisor with completing timely performance evaluations for Sales Associates, both quarterly and annually; completes timely performance evaluations for Loan Officer.
  • Assists the Operations Supervisor with staff schedules, maintenance of attendance records and other sales and operational reports.
  • Provides leadership and direction for staff.
  • Along with the Operations Supervisor, facilitates a monthly branch meeting to share current and future status, expectations and various updates.
  • Conducts monthly one on ones with Operations Supervisor.
  • Assists the Operations Supervisor with training Sales Associates.
  • Successfully meets monthly business development goals by making regular contact with existing business customers and prospects.
  • Develops a highly motivated and knowledgeable sales team that fully understands market needs, trends, and competitors and that actively promotes all Midwest Heritage products and services to customers.
  • Primary branch source for mortgage and or consumer loan referrals to Loan Officer.
  • Establishes a cohesive working relationship with the Loan Officer that enhances the sales efforts and growth of the branch.
  • Presents a positive image of Midwest Heritage and the consumer financial services business and develops key relationships in the market through active participation in professional and civic activities.
  • With assistance from the Operations Supervisor, plans, develops, and implements annual bank office goal strategies and budgets to enhance productivity, meets or exceeds production goals, maximizes income and meets profitability objectives.
  • Overall responsibility to ensure that all operations are carried out accurately and efficiently.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Supervisor, ensures that financial transactions, bank operations and sales methods minimize financial risk and comply with all the legal and regulatory requirements.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Supervisor, develops and implements a monthly or bi-monthly aisle walk marketing plan.
  • Overall responsibility to ensure that the bank meets branch audit requirements satisfactorily.
  • Develops strong working relationships with Hy-Vee Store Directors and Hy-Vee employees.
  • With assistance from the Operations Supervisor, interprets, communicates, and implements MH's sales strategies, tactics, and processes to bank employees.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Supervisor, motivates and trains staff to provide excellent customer service and to provide leads for cross-selling Midwest Heritage products and services.
  • Develops and trains branch personnel to develop consumer loan business.
  • Overall responsibility to maintain a satisfied and loyal customer base by directing sales and delivery processes to ensure that all personnel provide high-quality customer service and effectively handles customer transactions to maximize speed and customer convenience while controlling cost.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
  • Seeing and hearing well enough to communicate with customers in person and on the telephone. Dexterity to handle papers and use computers. Employee management skills are necessary.
  • Has the responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of customers, bank employees and bank information.
  • Use of influence strategies/sales ability, creativity/innovation, customer service orientation, initiative, developing others, team leadership, oral and written communications skills, planning/organizing, attention to detail.
  • Contacts customers, employees, business owners, and community or trade professional organizations.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, marketing, or related field. Will consider combination of education/experience in a related role in lieu of education. Three or more years of experience in banking, financial services, marketing, or sales. Successful sales experience is required. Previous management experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • This position is classified sedentary/light and requires the ability to sit for long periods and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequently communicates with customers in person and on the phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading.

Working Conditions:
  • The duties of this position are normally performed in a general office setting. This is a fast-paced work environment.
  • Primarily 100% inside with occasional local travel.
  • Retail locations - Hours vary from week to week including days, evenings until close (6pm), and some weekend hours.
  • Travel - Minimal < 10% travel mainly local between Midwest Heritage locations, training and job fairs.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:
Computer printouts, incoming mail, calculator, computer terminal, copy machine, fax machine, various software programs.
Contacts:
This position works with Midwest Heritage employees, customers, Hy-Vee employees, vendors and outside agents doing direct business with Midwest Heritage.
Confidentiality:
This position has the responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of customers, employees and bank/insurance/financial information at all times.
