BANKRUPTCY LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Practice Group

Location: Seattle, WA

A prestigious AmLaw 100 firm is seeking a skilled and driven Associate Attorney to join its highly-regarded Bankruptcy and Creditorsโ€™ Rights Litigation Practice Group. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a highly respected team representing lenders, creditors, landlords, and debtors in complex restructuring, insolvency, and bankruptcy matters. The practice encompasses both litigation and transactional restructuring work, providing attorneys with exposure to a broad range of distressed situations, enforcement actions, workouts, and bankruptcy proceedings.

Candidate Profile
  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in Washington, in good standing (or eligibility to waive into Washington); admission in Oregon and/or California is a plus
  • 4-8 years of substantive experience representing parties in bankruptcy proceedings, restructuring, creditors' rights litigation, or insolvency-related matters

Experience handling loan workouts, loan enforcement actions, receiverships, foreclosures, and related insolvency litigation

  • Bankruptcy & Restructuring Expertise: Demonstrated experience with complex corporate restructurings, including both debtor and creditor representations in Chapter 11, Chapter 15 and Chapter 9 municipal insolvency cases.
  • Litigation Experience: Excel in drafting, discovery, motion practice, and court appearances for bankruptcy-related disputes.
  • Additional Transactional Background: Familiarity with distressed asset acquisitions and out-of-court restructurings is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent writing, research, and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; and sound judgment are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters while providing outstanding client service
Key Responsibilities
  • Represent lenders, creditors, landlords, debtors, and other stakeholders in bankruptcy, restructuring, and insolvency-related matters
  • Handle loan workout negotiations, restructuring transactions, and distressed asset matters
  • Manage creditors' rights litigation, including loan enforcement actions, receiverships, and foreclosure proceedings
  • Draft and negotiate workout agreements, restructuring documents, pleadings, motions, and related legal filings
  • Advise clients on insolvency, restructuring, bankruptcy, and risk management strategies
  • Represent clients in corporate restructurings and bankruptcy litigation matters, including Chapter 15, Chapter 11 and Chapter 9 proceedings.
  • Provide strategic guidance to both creditors and debtors in complex insolvency cases.
  • Assist with acquisitions of distressed assets and corporate workouts, both in and out of court.
  • Draft pleadings, prepare discovery, and manage motion practice in high-stakes litigation.
  • Collaborate closely with partners and clients in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
