Job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Attorney At Law to join our growing legal team and practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of law, in particular family law, civil litigation, trial advocacy and ADR. This role requires excellent negotiation skills and the ability to litigate effectively on behalf of clients. The Attorney will be responsible for providing legal counsel, conducting thorough legal research, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This job opportunity is also available to recent law school graduates who are scheduled to sit the July 2026 North Carolina State Bar Examination, and contingent upon successful completion and obtaining licensure to practice law in North Carolina.

Duties

  • Represent clients in legal proceedings, including negotiations and litigation.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to support case preparation.
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and obligations in various matters.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations relevant to family law and CPS.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff within the law office and within the local bar to develop case strategies and relationships.
  • Maintain accurate records of all client interactions and case developments.
  • Maintain clear and accurate financial accounting for all clients and records.

Experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Admission to the North Carolina state bar with a current and active license to practice.
  • Proven or academic experience in negotiating settlements and litigating cases.
  • Familiarity with Family Law and CPS cases are preferred.
  • Strong research skills with experience using legal research databases such as Lexis-Nexis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work with and forge professional relationships with other attorneys, judges, and court personnel.
