Job description

Overview
Lutron has an immediate need for an Associate Art Director/Senior Visual Designer to join the Communications team at our New York City office location. In this role, you will lead the creative development and execution of marketing materials across multiple disciplines including 2D visual design, 3D environmental + visualization, photography, video, packaging design, and display environments.
 
As a creative leader with expertise spanning various design mediums, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive visual strategies and assets for marketing communications, while also creating experiential environments such as tradeshow booths and product demonstration spaces that showcase Lutron products. To succeed, you must exhibit outstanding creative vision and leadership skills while working collaboratively with program managers and creative teams to build market-leading materials.
 
As an Associate Art Director/Senior Visual Designer, you will develop deep working knowledge of clients' business challenges to create and implement design solutions that address specific marketing objectives. You will be expected to lead creative strategy development, conceptual ideation, and provide art direction across all visual touchpoints.

Responsibilities
  • Lead creative strategy and art direction for integrated marketing campaigns across 2D, 3D, photography, video, packaging, and display mediums
  • Collaborate with and provide creative direction to specialized teams including visual designers, 3D renders, photographers, videographers, and packaging designers
  • Develop and maintain detailed creative project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables in partnership with project managers
  • Facilitate creative reviews, presentations, and stakeholder approvals, ensuring alignment on creative vision and brand standards
  • Monitor creative output quality and provide constructive feedback to ensure deliverables meet or exceed brand and marketing expectations
  • Serve as creative escalation point and collaborate with senior leadership on strategic creative decisions
  • Maintain comprehensive creative documentation including creative briefs, style guides, and project archives
  • Drive creative innovation and explore new technologies, techniques, and trends across all design disciplines
  • Manage and develop the New York creative team's skills, unity, and creative culture
  • Actively contribute to a positive, innovative, and collaborative work environment
     
  • Assess team capabilities and participate in recruiting creative talent across various specializations

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Architecture, or related creative field required
  • Minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in creative leadership and art direction required; team management experience preferred
  • Portfolio demonstrating strategic creative thinking and execution across multiple disciplines – print, digital, 2D, 3D, packaging, environmental design required with application
  • Proficiency in creative software including Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and project management tools required
  • Experience with photography/video direction, motion graphics, or emerging AI creative tools a plus
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally

Starting pay: $125,000/yr to $165,000/yr; Lutron's employee benefits include 401k match, health, dental, and life insurance, paid vacation (amount based on tenure with the company), flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement programs.
