Product Field Specialist

What is a Product Field Specialist?

The Product Field Specialist provides hands-on field and technical support for Oso Perforating’s perforating and completions product lines. The role ensures reliable system performance at the wellsite, captures accurate field and run data, and serves as an early point of contact between field operations and Oso’s engineering and applications teams. It exists to protect product performance and the customer relationship in the field while feeding insights back to drive product reliability.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide onsite and remote support for the assembly, deployment, and performance of Oso perforating gun systems at customer wellsites, primarily in the Permian and other basins as required
  • Collect, record, and report field performance data including run results, misruns, and incident details, and enter them into Oso’s tracking systems
  • Serve as first-line technical liaison between customers, field crews, and Oso applications/engineering teams, escalating issues as needed
  • Support pre-job preparation, including equipment readiness checks, documentation review, and coordination with customer wireline and completions crews
  • Assists in troubleshooting field performance issues and support root-cause investigations for misruns or equipment concerns
  • Support customer training and product familiarization at the field level
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, inventory, and job documentation
  • Follow all Oso and customer safety policies; participate in JSAs and site safety protocols
  • Provide field feedback to drive product improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company driver requirement to operate a company vehicle while traveling
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required and Preferred Experience: 

  • 1-3 years’ oilfield service experience, preferably in wireline, perforating, or completions.
  • Strong safety orientation, reliability, and work ethic, including ability to work independently in the field 
  • Effective communication skills and customer service mindset 
  • Basic mechanical aptitude 
  • Familiarity with downhole tools and field data reporting preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent travel to active wellsite locations, including frequent overnight stays. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as dictated by field activity.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical equipment, loud noises, and industrial field conditions. 
  • Required to handle perforating gun systems and associated energetic/explosive components under established safety controls. 
  • Equipment used includes perforating gun hardware, hand tools, and field data devices such as laptops. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (SEF Energy employees shall not manually lift an item weighing more than 50 lbs., they shall utilize mechanical assistance devices. If mechanical assistance devices are not available, utilize a team lift.)
  • Will be required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, carry, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Must be able to talk and hear and occasionally taste and smell.
  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors, use peripheral vision, and adjust focus. 

Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Vocational/technical training in related fields preferred
  • Relevant oilfield experience (wireline, perforating, or completions operations) may be substituted for preferred post-secondary education.
