Job description

What's the role?

As an Aerial Restoration Construction Technician, you will lead the repair of HFC and Fiber outside plant network and perform field construction activities associated with the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of all telecommunications network infrastructure (aerial/underground; backyards and other conditions may require attention) throughout the Liberty Puerto Rico network.

The position primarily performs physical construction activities on aerial plant, including cable placement, strand installation, lashing, pole attachments, hardware installation, transfers, and related Outside Plant (OSP) construction work.

How can you add value?

  • Performs aerial telecommunications construction activities on poles and aerial infrastructure.
  • Installs and replaces strand, coaxial cable, fiber cable, and associated aerial hardware.
  • Performs cable lashing and de-lashing activities.
  • Installs, replaces, and adjusts pole attachments, clamps, brackets, anchors, guys, and associated hardware.
  • Performs aerial cable transfers and relocations as directed.
  • Assists with make-ready and pole-transfer activities.
  • Installs and maintains appropriate cable clearances, spacing, sag, and attachment requirements.
  • Removes abandoned or replaced aerial cable and hardware when required.
  • Performs basic identification and inspection of HFC and fiber infrastructure.
  • Identify visible plant defects, damaged infrastructure, unsafe conditions, and construction deficiencies and escalate them appropriately.
  • Supports Line Technicians, Fiber Technicians, and other OSP teams with restoration construction-related activities when required.
  • Operates bucket trucks, ladders, cable-lashing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other approved construction equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate traffic and work-zone controls.
  • Maintains company vehicles, tools, equipment, and assigned materials.
  • Accurately documents completed work, materials used and identified field conditions.
  • Follows Liberty Puerto Rico engineering, construction, quality, and safety standards.
  • Complies with applicable electrical-safety, pole-climbing, fall-protection, traffic-control, and PPE requirements.
  • Participates in emergency network restoration activities when construction support is required; works on call/after hours and shift as scheduled.
  • Demonstrates and ensures compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty PR and LLA policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures.
  • Performs other functions that may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma. associate degree preferred. 1-2 years of experience.

Previous telecommunications, cable, utility, electrical, construction, or similar field experience preferred.

Experience working from ladders, poles, or bucket trucks preferred.

Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and aerial construction equipment.

Basic understanding of telecommunications Outside Plant infrastructure preferred.

Ability to read basic construction prints, maps, work orders, and field documentation.

Other qualifications:
  • Valid Puerto Rico Driver’s License Category 8-9 with a satisfactory driving record, required within the first month of employment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
  • Comfortable working at heights and using ladders after successful training and certification.
  • Basic computer and mobile device skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn technical concepts and field operations.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and construction practices is a plus.
