What You’ll Do

The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing tax compliance, planning, and advisory services while serving as a trusted resource for clients and team members. This role manages complex tax engagements, provides technical guidance, ensures compliance with evolving tax regulations, and supports the development of tax professionals. The Tax Manager plays an important role in delivering exceptional client service, driving operational efficiency, and helping clients achieve their financial and business objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals, including senior associates and staff accountants.
  • Manage multiple tax engagements and ensure timely completion of deliverables while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, local, and, when applicable, international tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities.
  • Ensure compliance with current tax laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies designed to help clients minimize tax liabilities and achieve business objectives.
  • Serve as a technical resource for complex tax matters and provide guidance on tax law changes and regulatory developments.
  • Conduct and review technical tax research and prepare supporting documentation, memoranda, and recommendations.
  • Manage tax audits, examinations, and controversy matters, serving as a liaison between clients and taxing authorities.
  • Review client financial information and identify tax-saving opportunities and planning considerations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering responsive, high-quality service.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and support business development initiatives.
  • Leverage tax technology and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow management.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Active CPA or EA license required.
  • Master's degree in Taxation or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax experience.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience within a tax environment.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns across multiple entity types.
  • Experience with tax planning, tax research, and tax advisory services.
  • Proficiency with tax software such as CCH, Thomson Reuters, Lacerte, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex tax matters to clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
