TheSupport Services Business Unit is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Portland, OR.

At David Evans and Associates (DEA), our financial accuracy and strategic insights drive our success. As aSenior Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in ourCorporate Finance Team, applying advanced accounting principles tomaintainaccuraterecords, analyze financial data, andprovidevaluable insights to leadership.

This role requires a seasoned accounting professional with experience in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and budgeting.You will work independently on complex accounting functions, support business leaders with financial analysis, and contribute to continuous process improvements. What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and oversee the company's fixed asset accounting processes, including asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, transfers, and reconciliations.
  • Manage lease accounting activitiesin accordance withapplicable accounting standards (ASC 842), including lease setup, modifications, remeasurements, and ongoing compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure thetimelyandaccuraterecording of capital expenditures and lease transactions.
  • Support annual audits by preparing fixed asset and lease accounting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Prepare and reviewmonthlyjournal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
    with GAAP.
  • Produce financial reports andassistin the preparation of financial statements for management and leadership review.
  • Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Tax Compliance, Project Accounting, and other departments to ensureaccuratefinancial reporting.
  • Support annual budgeting efforts and provide financial analysis to operational and business unit leaders.
  • Assistwith internal and external audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop andmaintainaccounting process documentation.
  • Identifyopportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency through automation and system enhancements.
  • Participate in ERP system improvements, testing, and implementation initiatives.
  • Serve as a resourceforleadership by providing financial insights and recommendations that support business decisions.
What You BringRequired Qualifications:
  • 5+years of progressive accounting experience withsignificant experiencein general ledger accounting, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting.
  • MUST have strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including fixed asset accounting and/or lease accounting requirements (ASC 842).
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, andmonth-end close activities.
  • Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and
    complex formulas.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and present financial information to management.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, orrelatedfield.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with a fixed assetor lease accountingsoftware
  • CPALicense
  • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
  • Experience supporting external audits and implementing process improvements
