Job description

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

Performs multiple accounting support functions, such as compiling, sorting, and preparing documents and reports, issuing bills and invoices, bookkeeping, calculating and verifying debit and credit amounts, and posting transactions to appropriate accounts. Ensures the appropriate filing and maintenance of accounting records. Inputs data into financial systems and reconcile reports.

Creates and produces reports and assists accountants on special projects as necessary. Mid-level support role. Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Responsible for supporting the accounting department by filing documents, data entry, reconciling statements and running software programs.

• Primary support in processing the monthly regional center billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

• Relieves accounting staff out on vacation or any type of time-off and performs the tasks assigned to her/him.

• Evaluates receivables and payables accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.

• Handles the daily cash deposits, cash receipts and journal entry posting into the accounting system.

• Handles various monthly account reconciliations.

• Provides assistance to auditors while performing accounting, administrative and bookkeeping duties.

• Performs research on various accounting processes, analyze variances and prepare appropriate reports.

Reconciles daily cash activities to the bank statements and compare monthly, weekly, and even daily statements to the general ledger.

Prepares and organizes reports required by management and other governmental organizations (Census, Surveys, Welfare

Exemptions, etc.).

• Helps with general admin work as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Associate Degree in accounting or related accounting studies.

EXPERIENCE:

• 3 years of proven and sufficient accounting work experience, especially in a corporate setting, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of general accounting theories and guidelines

• Strong familiarity with computerized accounting systems

• Ability to perform basic and higher mathematical calculations

• Ability to work as a team player and promote a cooperative work atmosphere

• Strong skills in performing data entry and word processing, with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

• Strong ability in communicating with diverse groups of people both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to create and present reports, as well as correspondence regularly

• Efficient in solving problems, and working with diverse variables

• Hands on, organized and detail oriented

• Strong multi-tasking skills
