Job description

A 221-bed acute care Level II Trauma Center in Sanford is seeking a Physical Therapist to join its rehabilitation services team. The hospital provides a full-service cardiovascular program that includes open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and advanced diagnostic services, along with orthopedic and spine care, robotic surgery, inpatient rehabilitation, and comprehensive imaging capabilities.

This role is responsible for managing the full continuum of therapeutic care for an assigned patient caseload in collaboration with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team. The Physical Therapist conducts patient evaluations, develops individualized treatment plans, and delivers evidence-based interventions aimed at improving mobility, strength, and overall functional outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include educating patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, assistive devices, prosthetics, and adaptive techniques to support continued progress outside of structured therapy sessions. The role also involves organizing and prioritizing caseloads, assisting with daily staffing and workflow needs, and coordinating patient assignments and handoffs to ensure continuity of care across the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Active Licensed Physical Therapist (LPT) credential required

  • Open to all experience levels, including new graduates

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire

Schedule:

  • Full-time

  • Day shift

  • Five 8-hour shifts per week

  • Start time between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

  • Rotating weekends required (approximately 4 weekend shifts per month initially, with reduced frequency over time)
