Window Coverings Installation Manager

Position Summary

The Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the installation department, ensuring every customer receives an exceptional experience from scheduling through final completion. This role combines leadership, project management, customer service, and hands-on installation of both interior and exterior window covering products.

The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Coordination

• Schedule all installation appointments to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Coordinate installation dates with customers, sales consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Monitor incoming products and ensure materials are available before scheduling installations.
• Manage installation calendars and adjust schedules as needed for weather, delays, or customer requests.

Installation

• Professionally install a wide variety of interior and exterior window covering products including:

  • Cellular shades
  • Wood and faux wood blinds
  • Vertical blinds
  • Draperies and hardware
  • Motorized window treatments
  • Exterior patio shades
  • Exterior zipper shades
  • Awnings and other outdoor shading products
• Verify installations meet manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
• Troubleshoot installation challenges and identify creative solutions when field conditions vary.
• Program and commission motorized products as required.

Project Management

• Review projects prior to installation to ensure product accuracy and job readiness.
• Communicate proactively with customers regarding installation timelines and expectations.
• Coordinate punch-list items and warranty service.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Customer Experience

• Deliver exceptional customer service on every project.
• Educate customers on product operation, maintenance, and care.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
• Conduct post-installation follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor installation technicians.
• Train installers on installation techniques, safety practices, and product knowledge.
• Maintain a positive, professional, and accountable work environment.
• Assist in recruiting and onboarding new installation team members.

Inventory & Equipment

• Maintain installation tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Track installation supplies and reorder materials as needed.
• Ensure company vehicles remain organized, clean, and professional.

Safety

• Follow OSHA and company safety standards.
• Safely operate ladders, lifts, power tools, and installation equipment.
• Maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of installation experience in window coverings, construction, finish carpentry, or a related trade.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Outstanding customer service and communication abilities.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds and work safely on ladders.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and scheduling software.

Preferred

• Experience with motorized shade systems (Somfy, Hunter Douglas PowerView, Lutron, Rollease Acmeda, etc.).
• Experience installing exterior shading systems.
• Previous leadership or project management experience.
• Knowledge of electrical basics related to low-voltage motorized products.
